This is a 16″ Mask Faced character doll. She is in fair-good condition for her age. She has a pretty face and tightly braided white hair. Her dress is in good condition as well as her panties. They both need some washing and the panties need the elastic replaced. Her shoes need to be resoled. Her body is stuffed with sawdust, and her limbs are in good shape with some of discoloration due to age. Her braids do have some blue dye that I am not certain how to remove.
These dolls were popular in the 1950’s and were made in various places across the world. This particular one I do not see any markings of where it was made or if made by an individual. But, the hit joints are in excellent condition, and the shoulders are made like cloth dolls (no joint).
This doll comes from my mother’n laws collection where she kept her dolls on an open shelf display. Non-smoking environment. She always had a dog, but her dolls were always up on shelves and away from the them.
She is best displayed sitting on a shelf or in a chair. but away from curious “little” hands and NOT near where pets might snuggle up or mistake as their own snuggle type chew toy.
My intent was to clean her up, and although unsure about being able to remove the blue dye from her hair, I had intended on making her a new dress, fix her shoes, etc. If you decide you would like the custom work done, please be sure to email me to see if I might have the available time, yet the cost of custom work will substantially increase her cost. I’m hoping that another seamstress or one who enjoys displaying antique and vintage dolls will treasure this unique find.
